Order of Worship

  • Minister:
    I was glad when they said unto me, “Let us go into the house of the Lord!” Our feet shall stand within thy gates, O Jerusalem.

    People:
    For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.

    Minister:
    Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek thy good.

    People:
    Those that be planted in the house of the Lord, shall flourish in the courts of our God.

    Minister:
    Blessed are they that dwell in Thy house. Lord, I have loved thy habitation, the place where thy honor dwelleth.

    People:
    For the Lord is in His holy temple, let all the earth keep silence before Him.

    Minister:
    Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.

    People:
    O sing unto the Lord a new song, for He has done marvelous things. Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all the earth, and sing praises!

  • The Introit to the Decalogue [From All That Dwells]

    From all that dwell below the skies;
    Let the Creator’s praise arise;
    Let the Redeemer’s name be sung.
    Through every land by every tongue.

    Eternal are thy mercies, Lord;
    Eternal truth attends thy word.
    Thy praise shall sound from shore to shore,
    Till suns shall rise and set no more.

    The Abridged Decalogue

    Minister:
    And God spoke all these words saying: I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the House of bondage. You shall have no other gods before me.

    People: (Sung)
    Lord have mercy upon us, and incline our Hearts to keep this law. Nearer, my God, to Thee, Nearer to thee! E'en though it be a cross That raiseth me: Still all my song shall be, Nearer, my God, to Thee: Nearer, my God, to Thee, Nearer to Thee!

    Minister:
    Hear what Christ our Savior saith. Thou shall love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy soul and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it: Thou shall love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments, hang all the law and the prophets.

    The Gloria Patri [Glory Be to the Father]

    Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, Amen.

  • I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only son our Lord who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead; and buried. The third day he arose from the dead’ he ascended into heaven and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Church Universal, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life everlasting. Amen.

  • May god bless us with the true spirit of Christianity, that we may live together, not as man over man, but as lay persons working with god. Amen.

  • Almighty God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Maker of all things, Judge of all men, we acknowledge and bewail our manifold sins and wickedness which we from time to time most grievously have committed by thought, word and deed against Your divine Majesty, provoking most justly Your wrath and indignation against us. We do earnestly repent and are heartily sorry for these our misdoings; the remembrance of them is grievous unto us.

    Have mercy upon us, have mercy upon us, most merciful Father for Your Son our Lord Jesus Christ’s sake; forgive us all that is past and grant that we may ever hereafter serve and please You in newness of life, to the honor and glory of Your name, through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
